100 mostly gravel miles out of sam houston national forest

The Hungry Hungry Hundo is an epic gravel century ride that will take place on Saturday, February 24, 2024 out of the Sam Houston National Forest. The ride is meant to provide a supportive space for WTFNB and LGBTQ+ cyclists who want to push themselves to ride a gravel century, with allies welcome!

The ride will be about 103 miles with 3,500 feet of elevation gain. The main group will aim to keep an average pace of about 12-14mph and ride leaders will “lead from the back.” Anyone who wants to ride faster can come prepared with the route and ride ahead of the main group.

The start and finish is at Stubblefield Lake Recreation Area campground, which is about a 2.5 hour drive from Austin and 1 hour drive from Houston. Wheels down is at 8am, so traveling to the site (or a nearby town) the evening before is likely the best option. Team Snacks will be camping on Friday and Saturday nights - you are welcome to join!

Registration is required, and we will collect a small registration fee of $15 to help cover campsite fees (even if you elect not to camp - we still need to reserve the space to host the ride), SAG costs, and some snacks/hydration. Information about refueling stops, camping and other lodging options, car pooling, route, and other details will be emailed out ahead of time to all registered riders.

***If paying the fee is a burden to your participation, please email us at teamsnackscycling@gmail.com to register. In your email, please include all the same information that we are collecting on the registration page (click button above).
